Great Board So Far, March 9, 2012 By Robspace1 (Vancouver Wa.) - See all my reviews This review is from: ASUS AM3+ AMD 880G DDR3 2000 SATA 6Gbps and USB 3.0 Supported ATX Motherboard M5A88-V EVO (Personal Computers) I just got my pc back from the shop today. I had this installed, as well as AMD Phenom 960t cpu. This is a 4 core cpu,with 2 extra cores locked. But some people have been able to unlock the other 2 cores and get a 6 core cpu for the price of a 4 core. I just did that, and it's running great. If you want to use the core unlocker, it's a little hard to find, but it's location is in the manual, and a red led lights when it's on.
I now have a great, 6 core, Phenom Black Edition cpu, for $100.00, thanks to this mobo.I also just put in a new Antec 750 with 8 gigs of G.Skill ram.The onboard graphics look good, but, I haven't tried gaming yet.I'm going to add a new Nvidea soon. Hybrid Crossfire X is a joke. You can only use low end cards, so 1 good card is best, imo.The driver cd has alot of nice ways to grab higher performance like turbo boost and gpu boost, and core unlocking. So, far this board is doing great, and I'm a happy man.

Strong and sturdy board with plenty of SATA connectors plus it still has the EIDE connector that will support my favorite Plextor DVD-RW. The box comes will all you will require. The new BIOS wants to configure and conflicts with Windows settings. The only real change that is required for a plug and play experience. A solid recommend for the purchase of this board. Supports the AM3+ AMD processors chips. A good layout for my ATI HD6770 video card, AMD 975 CPU Black Edition, 8 GB RAM using a Corsair 750 Watt PSU.

It is solidly built and also has numerous "artistic" details that make the board a pleasure to look at. Booted with no problems. It has a lot of on-board" features for debug (e.g., memory verification). As I need this server to be rock stable, I am not overclocking it ... but Asus provides a lot of utilities for overclocking and monitoring. Setting up the DDR3 memory timing and voltage worked well. Documentation is good with the expected grammatical errors. Drivers provided by Asus on the CD worked well - although a recent visit to the website to update drivers did not have all the drivers for the board listed - I am building a Windows Home Server 2011 system and so "normal" Windows drivers do not always list compatibility.
