5.0 out of 5 stars This board has EVERYTHING!, March 13, 2012
This review is from: ASUS PCIe 3.0 4-Way SLI/CrossFireX Support Intel X79 ATX DDR3 2400 LGA 2011 Motherboards Rampage IV Formula (Personal Computers)
This is the 4th PC I've built from scratch. My previous one was built 1st quarter of 2007. It was an Intel Core Duo, or Duo Core, whatever. So with this machine, I bought the best of the best. And it is one of the fastest machines out there today.

So let me start off by saying, this motherboard has everything you could ever want, except firewire. It has plenty of USB ports on the back, and it has plenty of USB headers on the motherboard itself. I was able to connect up my USB 3 and USB 2 ports on the front of my CoolerMaster HAF X case. I was also able to add a front mounted memory card reader with an extra USB port using one of the motherboard headers, and I even had an un-used USB 3 header on the MB, so I bought a back bracket from ASUS themselves. So I think in total, I have maybe 15 USB ports on my machine, that are directly connected to the motherboard itself. No Hubs used here. LOVE IT!

I opted for the Corsair liquid cooled H80 system. So far, so good. No... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME, April 28, 2012
This review is from: ASUS PCIe 3.0 4-Way SLI/CrossFireX Support Intel X79 ATX DDR3 2400 LGA 2011 Motherboards Rampage IV Formula (Personal Computers)
This is my first custom build that I've picked out myself. I'm very proud of it. The case it comes with makes a good pillow. If you need help, I discovered that the ROG forums are full of friendly and helpful people. The included disc is packed with goodies to get you started.

I named my computer Zeus. Here's the build:
64 Bit Windows 7 Ultimate, Rampage IV Extreme motherboard, G. Skill Ripjaws Z series 19200 PC3 RAM (that's 2400MHz by the way), Western Digital 2TB 6GB/s HDD, Intel I7 Extreme 3930K Step C2 Processor (from the UK), Noctua NH-D14 Cooling unit, Silverstone Strider 1500W PSU, and the AMD Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Graphics Card... not the oc edition.

No problems at all with the motherboard, but I'd recommend a different graphics card. Nothing but trouble with the one I got...

5.0 out of 5 stars A great motherboard when it works!, April 26, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: ASUS PCIe 3.0 4-Way SLI/CrossFireX Support Intel X79 ATX DDR3 2400 LGA 2011 Motherboards Rampage IV Formula (Personal Computers)
When I got the motherboard, I opened the box and it was packed pretty well, could have been a little better though. Anyway, I popped it into the tower, hooked up everything perfectly, until it didnt turn on.. This irriitated me right away since ASUS is known for its "instant start up" quality. Well this didnt happen; I spend an hour figuring it out until i accidently hit the 24 pin connecting wires. The motherboard booted on. I figured maybe it was loose, I touched the wire again to secure it, and it turned off. Long story short, the 24 pin socket was messed up, something wasnt catching in there causing a loose connection. I called up amazon, they sent me an RMA slip and I shipped it back. I ordered a new one and hopefully this one doesnt have any problems!

Otherwise, I ve been working with ASUS motherboards for quite some time and I love the product, the formula and extreme editions are great boards for gaming and overclocking the hell out of your cpu and gpu!
